Linkin Park (LP) is a famous rock band formed in 1996. The band is from Agoura Hills, California, USA. The debut album by Linkin Park was “Hybrid Theory”, which helped raise the band to international fame. The album can be seen as one of the most celebrated rock albums, which inspired an entire generation. It is still considered as one of the prime albums of the genre of rock music.
The second album by the band was named Meteora, and continued the success of the band. In 2003, the album topped Billboard 200 album chart, and was then followed by extensive touring all around the world.
Linkin Park was founded by three high school friends; Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda and Rob Bourdon. Soon after graduating from high school, they recruited Joe Hahn, Mark Wakefield and Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and formed a band called “Xero”. Later, Mark Wakefield and Dave "Phoenix" Farrell left the band, and they replaced their vocalist, Wakefield, with Chester Bennington. Before Joining “Xero”, Chester performed as the vocalist of the post-grunge band, Grey Daze.
After Chester joined the band, they decided to change the name of the band to “Hybrid Theory”. After sometime the band decided to change its name once again. And this time they chose the name “Linkin Park” as a play on and homage to the Lincoln Park in Santa Monica, California. The band signed their first record deal with Warner Bros. Records in 1999.
